Mississippi River Greenbelt Park
On the north end of Mud Island in Memphis, TN
Site Directions: From downtown Memphis, take Auction Avenue north of the Pyramid west across to Mud Island. At the Mud Island traffic circle, go north along Island Drive to the site.

Landmarks: The Pyramid in downtown Memphis is just east of the site.

Site Description: The site is a typical urban park that is located adjacent to the Mississippi River. It consists mostly of open lawn areas with scattered trees. Good views of Mississippi River mainstem habitats can be seen from the park. An excellent articulated concrete revetment boat ramp providing access into the Mississippi River is present.



Wildlife to Watch:
The site is a good location for viewing birds flying along the river and a variety of species may be seen especially during migration. Typical "backyard" urban species may also be seen in the landside parts of the park. Highlights may be scoters, Bufflehead, unusual gulls and terns, Peregrine Falcon, Warbling Vireo, among nearly anything that may stop on the sand bars!
