Bordered on the east by I-240 and on all other sides by commercial and residential development, Elmwood Cemetery is a secure green space for wildlife. Elmwood is a Level II Arboretum and many of its trees predate the founding of the cemetery. With its old canopy and largely undisturbed green space, Elmwood is an excellent metropolitan safe zone for wildlife.
Wildlife to Watch: A variety of wildlife are common, including a variety of migrant and breeding birds, including hawks (Red-tailed and Cooper’s Hawk are regular). Groundhogs, rabbits, chipmunks, and squirrels are common, with foxes being seen somewhat regularly.
